CHANGE AGENTS. CATALYSTS. INNOVATORS.

Seismic Partners

is a strategy, change and innovation toolkit.  We partner with companies to drive transformation and shape ideas that are radical AND practical. Our team has a unique blend of experienced operators, advisors and entrepreneurs. We aren't your typical consultancy, or your average agency.

Seismic is driven, and curious. We ask new questions, and give transparent answers. We produce original, actionable strategies. We enable our clients to see their own immense potential and change from within – in numbers, in branding, in talent, in culture, in confidence.

In short, we help companies FIX, GROW and LAUNCH.

Fix

Sometimes “fix” is massive renovation – like business transformation. We look at the infrastructure as a whole and focus on key areas in need of repair. Sometimes it’s project management – digging deep tactically and orchestrating movement. And other times it’s branding – a grooming of identity, style, and presence.

All the ideas and plans in the world are only as good as the team putting them in place. When you hire Seismic, you aren't just gaining a few smart colleagues. You're getting trusted advisors and friends who make things happen. Our network of affiliates is also available for support, simplifying the search for vendors.

Experienced

Each of our team members has seen the tremendous need for fresh eyes. Throughout our various roles with companies of all shapes and sizes, we've realized the value of focus, listening, and objectively applying insight where needed.

Eclectic

Seismic enjoys a wide array of personalities, experience and talent. Brainstorming with cross disciplinary colleagues has led to pretty incredible revelations time and time again. When you hire us, you'll get the diverse brainpower of many - talking, whiteboarding, and Skyping any time of day.

Original

We're a next generation services company. Our approach and involvement is new to each client. We never use a cookie cutter template or standardized flow chart. We don't recycle research or give blanket recommendations. Suits aren't really our thing.

Courageous

We start from the vulnerability of scratch. We're okay walking into uncertainty. We take risks when appropriate, and wholeheartedly own the outcome. We roll up our sleeves, live your battles and triumphs, and ask the tough questions. We consider ourselves an extension of your leadership.

MARK BRUINOOGE
Co-Founder + Managing Partner
Fire Starter / Guitar Slayer

His focus: Strategy, Digital, Mobile, Marketing, Agile, Growth, Business Development, Buy vs. Build Decisions, Leadership.

At some point in your first interaction with Mark, we bet you’ll make a deeper connection though a common bond or ‘small world’ story. Life experience and business have helped Mark develop a deep and valuable network of people, places and partners. He dives right in when he meets you and listens until it’s the right time to interject, usually asking a question about your business model, a comment on technology, or the wild possibilities of something you haven’t thought of yet.

After attending Lafayette College where he focused on English Literature and Economics, Mark spent time in investment banking and early stage growth investing (Brown Brothers Harriman and Hambrecht & Quist), in places like NYC, Boston, London, and LA. His background positioned him perfectly to pounce on “this thing” called the Internet. From there he helped drive digital strategy as a Senior Vice President at Bank of America, working on innovative ways to integrate technology and business. And he hasn’t stopped since.

Mark’s passion for entrepreneurship prompted the co-founding of Seismic. He is committed to building a business platform that drives innovation and new ventures. He also currently serves on the Board of Queen City Forward, an incubator helping drive socially beneficial entrepreneurship in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mark spends time coaching youth soccer and spending downtime with family and friends during the summer in Vermont. He is also plays guitar (and sometimes trumpet) in The Whisky Dollars.

Mark asks: "Who’s the 1 person (dead or alive) you’d like to take out to dinner - and why?"

STEVE HALLORAN
Co-Founder + Managing Partner
Shy Genius / Michael Bradley Doppleganger

His focus: Strategy, Business Development, Business Transformation Leadership, Client Management, Executive Leadership and Coaching, Interim Management.

“Visionary leader.” “Creative lightning rod.” “Exceptional.” Those are actual quotes from former clients. While Steve is indeed all of those things, he’s also grounded and accessible. We often Skype back and forth, only to find out Steve is in a taxi. Or dial him into a conference call while he’s boarding a plane. Steve has a passion for ideas and people. Even from his days at Middlebury College, he has the ability to make connections and build lasting relationships.

His early career at E&Y and iXL were formative in strategy consulting, where he ran workshops and engagements for over 50 companies. He then took on more complex engagements on his own before becoming the head of HCL’s Business Transformation practice. But his experiences as an entrepreneur and executive have served as his true foundation. Building one of the first open innovation companies taught him how to be scrappy and shaped his inclusive approach to strategy and change. Reverse engineering an entire business on a big-bang implementation of SAP taught him how to ‘flip risk on its head’.

Steve’s love of sports has conditioned him for life and business. His playing days didn’t stop after college. You will likely find him most weekends on “old man” soccer and basketball leagues or picking up a new sport like paddle. But Steve’s biggest inspiration is his family. He and his wife have 4 kids and live in Fairfield, CT.

Steve asks, "Why not?"

KRISTINA BURKE
Sr Operations Consultant
Process Genius / Paddle Board Extraordinaire

Her focus: Design and build: teams, sales & operation plans, performance measurement systems and operating budgets. Leverage: smart humans, simple tools.

On any given Tuesday, you’ll find Kristina in jeans, glasses perched on top of her head, sipping a pourover coffee and maybe talking about her roasted veggie salad of the day. Or manufacturing. Hailing from Great Falls, VA and landing at Virginia Tech for undergrad, her love for the outdoors and engineering runs deep. So deep that she worked at Bosch Rexroth in Germany, where she got a great dose of riverside villages and the inner workings of a Fortune 200 company. Back in the states, she snapped up her MBA from Duke, mountain biked around Asheville while working for BorgWarner, and then answered a call in the Queen City to fill a role as Director of Operations at the US National Whitewater Center.

Her passion for local farmers and safe, organic food led her to partner with nonprofit Common Grounds Farm Stand, where she currently serves as President on their Board of Directors. When she’s not crunching numbers, Kristina hangs out with her husband and shepherd mix and dreams of their next epic travel adventure.

Kristina asks, “If time, money, and people’s opinions didn’t matter, what would you be, do or have?"

ADDIE HOLBY
Producer, Digital Design
Designer / ICE CREAM SANDWICH MAKER

Her focus: brand building and production: digital expansion (site and campaign design, app wireframes, experience audits, content strategy) and tactical development (identity, art direction, process execution).

Addie is a creative. From her corner, sketches on paper and doodles on whiteboards turn into working designs and wireframes. We get copywriting and site content for landing pages and email campaigns. (And we also get freshly baked cookies.)

With an undergrad in journalism from USC, her strength as a writer comes through in tone and style. As a designer, she shines in creating order – building clean systems that convey a brand voice and market positioning. She’s worked in-house at big companies (Westinghouse, Scentair), late nights at startups (Sweet Relish, Paper Polite), and freelanced in between (Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, FlipKey). Grad school in NYC was no joke either – she finished Pratt a few years ago with her thesis on the front page of AIGA.com. Throughout her career, Addie has easily switched between writer, creative director, designer, and producer; she’s deeply analytical when it comes to brand messaging.

Addie plays ultimate Frisbee with her husband on a team called The Flick van Dyke Show, and loves breakfast with friends, clever greeting cards, and luxury sedans. Her lifelong appreciation for public libraries has fueled her involvement with The Friend’s Council, a non-profit dedicated to supporting the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library through grassroots advocacy and fundraising.

Addie asks, “Beach or mountains? And which ones?"
